We are a family that saw what one-to-one teaching can do for a child, because we watched it happen to our own. A1 STEM Academy exists to give other students the same thing.
Our Story
It began with our own son.
Like every parent, we wanted him to have the best teaching we could find. What finally worked was not another classroom of four students moving as one — it was a teacher sitting with him, one to one, who knew exactly where he stood and how far he could go.
We watched the difference at home. With undivided attention, honest feedback, and a plan built around one particular child, he rose at every level, and earned a shortlist at elite universities.
There was no reason it should work only for our son.
So we started A1 STEM Academy, and built it around exactly that. Every student we take on gets a teacher who learns how they think, keeps them moving, and takes them further than they thought they could go. That is the reason we are here.
The Research
We were not the first to notice this
What we watched happen at home has a name. In a landmark 1984 study, educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom found that students taught one to one scored higher than 98% of students in a conventional classroom — a gap of two full standard deviations.
Researchers have spent decades since trying to reproduce that result thirty students at a time. We took the simpler route: teach the way the evidence already points, and never ask a teacher to divide their attention between your child and everyone else in the room.

Which test suits them, which subject genuinely needs the hours, when to push and when to rest — answered for the student in front of us, never to fill a calendar.
The decision to continue is always yours
There is no long-term contract to sign. If you decide to stop — because your child already has what they came for, or because life has moved on — the classes left on your balance are refunded. We would rather return the money than have a family paying for lessons they no longer need.
We teach for further out than the next exam
The goal is a student who can take on harder work — so we build the habits and the confidence that outlast the test they are sitting this term.
We would rather a family stay because the teaching is working than because they are locked into a contract. That is why families stay with us for years, and why they send us their friends.
